The children develop their skills of inquiry in projects that engage them in questioning, exploration, investigation, implementation and reflection. These projects are based on real-world situations that spur the children to become involved and be interested in the world they live in, interacting with the materials, creatures, places and people.
Endangered Animals and their Habitats – The Rhino Project
4 year olds

This project taught our children the meaning of extinction and to learn more about identify the animals that are endangered in our world today. They got to understand more about animals’ habitats, the foods that they eat, and how to care for them.
The children also studied about the habitats of the animals having a direct impact on their survival and how we can play a part in ensuring that their homes are not destroyed because of excessive hunting or logging.
Using this knowledge, we hope they play the roles of advocates – to advocate others on how to care for these animals and their habitats to prevent them from being extinct.
The Playhouse Project
6 year olds

Our OLE Project started initially with the class going for walks around the campus in early July. From the many walks, we spent time with the children, engaging them with questions and listened to their inputs.
Children got particularly excited during the stops made at the playground- they would climb and play around the playground’s structure while some children simply enjoyed the nature and relaxed in the playhouse nearby.
When the opportunity arose for children to suggest an area to improve within the school, the K2 children unanimously named the playhouse as a subject to upgrade. When asked why, they agreed that this project would be their “gift” to the Odyssey community before they graduate end of the year.
